Welcome to the cheese city of Alkmaar! Every Friday morning between March and September you can watch the typical Dutch spectacle of the cheese carriers at Waagplein. Do you want to know more about the history of the city and the cheese market? Then plan a city walk or take an Alkmaar Cheese Cruise: this canal cruise departs from Waagplein. You could also enjoy shopping or enjoy a drink on a terrace in the pleasant centre of Alkmaar.

Every year in September the Enkhuizer Harddraverij-day takes place at the trotting track. Prior to the race for the Grand Prix of Enkhuizen, there is, among other things, a parade of antique carriages and ring stabbing. The day will be concluded with fireworks.

Golden feet? You must mean blubber feet! Run barefoot through the mud, over bridges and tree trunks and through the grass and leaves. There is nothing better than running through nature barefoot. The barefoot path Gouwe voeten starts just outside Enkhuizen in Bovenkarspel.

Swing like a monkey or Tarzan from branch to branch while dangling high above the ground. There are exciting and adventurous courses laid out for young and old and for both beginners and advanced climbers. Are you up to it?

Whoever says Edam, says cheese. Not surprisingly, the spherical cheeses have been known for centuries known all over the world. Discover the origins of this delicacy in Edam and be surprised by the historic centre of the old Zuiderzee town. In July and August you can experience for yourself how trade used to be conducted here during the Wednesday cheese market. You can also learn about the story of Edam cheese at the Cheese Market or at museum The Story of Edam Cheese.

Tip: Do you like cultural activities? Then visit Edam's museum, one of the two locations is the 'Steenen Coopmanshuys'. This is Edam's oldest house with a unique floating cellar.

In Monnickendam, visit especially the Grote- or Sint Nicolaaskerk or the Speeltoren which is now part of the Waterlands Museum. With a small shopping center.

The beautiful fishing village on the IJsselmeer, with its traditional costume, music and fish. Small houses in the maze behind the harbour (the oldest part of Volendam centre) , souvenir shops, restaurants with atmosphere and with fresh fish. straight out of the water.

At Fort Resort Beemster you can enjoy a wonderfully relaxing day of wellness. The combination of historical style elements and the beautiful nature of the Beemsterpolder will make your wellness day unforgettable!

A peninsula in the Markermeer and a tourist attraction, because of the traditional costumes, the characteristic wooden houses on stilts and the "yards" on which people live.

Here you will walk among the mischievous ring-tailed lemurs, and the curious squirrel monkeys will come and have a good look at you too. 
And what about the lions and tigers? The Lion Foundation has its shelter for big cats in Hoenderdaell Zoo. With the unique hunting simulator. Hunting provides a discharge of energy, builds muscle strength and condition, which is good for rehabilitation. Many of these felines were unfortunately used for human entertainment.
Lions and tigers, by the way, are not the only wild animals. There are also large birds of prey, caimans, hyenas, wolves and bears! The animals have plenty of space and visitors experience this with them on a wonderful day in the middle of nature.

Hoenderdaell Zoo is versatile. Meet for example the snow leopard, the Canadian eagle owl and the Malayan spotted marten. And if, like the sloths, you want to take it easy afterwards: enjoy some delicious food in the restaurant. Or play monkey in our playgrounds!

Hoenderdaell Animal Park is also home to SOS Dolphin, a hospital for small cetaceans such as the porpoise. This organisation is dedicated to the protection and preservation of cetaceans in the North Sea and Wadden Sea through education, research and offering help to porpoises, dolphins and whales in distress that end up on the Dutch coast or are in danger of stranding.

When Urk was still an island, the ferry service between Urk and Enkhuizen was the only connection to the mainland. Passenger ship De Zuiderzee keeps this unique History alive and still operates this ferry service between Urk and Enkhuizen in the summer months.
The trip takes about 1.5 hours. Departure from Enkhuizen is at 11am and from Urk 4pm. You will be back in Enkhuizen at about 6pm.

At 't Keetje fruit farm, you can enjoy delicious homemade regional products. In summer and autumn, you can even pick your own fruit. Besides the farm shop and lunchroom, 't Keetje also has a lovely playground. This makes 't Keetje a unique day out for all ages.

Take a fun trip through the historic triangle of Hoorn, Enkhuizen, and Medemblik. Travel by steam train from Hoorn to Medemblik, then board the museum ship for Enkhuizen. Learn all about the old steam trams and imagine yourself on an adventurous journey back in time!

Your visit to the Zuiderzee Museum begins just around the corner from the holiday park. Walk through history in the Zuiderzee Village, where more than 140 authentic buildings from around the former Zuiderzee form a complete village. Meet Zuiderzee residents full of character. Observe the craftsmen, such as the blacksmith and rag-and-bone man, who are happy to show you what they used to do! Play traditional Dutch games together, build a clog boat, or enjoy freshly smoked fish at the smokehouse. 

Discover the treasures of the Zuiderzee in the Schathuys (Survey House) (located approximately 250 meters from the Zuiderzee Village). Admire the unique collection of historic wooden ships in the ship hall, or immerse yourself in the stories of the sea and meet former and current residents of the Zuiderzee region. Immerse yourself in the rich history of the Zuiderzee. Live it up by discovering, doing, and tasting for yourself.

One of the recreational areas in Waterland - north of Amsterdam - is Het Twiske. One third of this recreation area consists of water and offers plenty of opportunities for swimming, diving, surfing and sailing. As a recreation area, Het Twiske is popular with children, who can have fun here on and around the water. Het Twiske has a play ditch, splash pond and an adventure playground with tube fort, cableway, pirate ship, castle and ferries. There are also no fewer than seven beaches and a harbour. For nature lovers, it is a haven where they can cycle, walk, sail, ride horses and rollerblade undisturbed in a varied landscape.

Blockweer Nature Park is the best place for a wonderful family walk in nature. Armed with a guide, fun assignments, a treasure chest with fascinating facts, you go in search of nature's hidden treasures.

A unique museum in West Friesland is the "Bottle Ship Museum" in Enkhuizen. This museum is located in the beautiful 17th-century "Spuihuisje" (Spui House), near the Drommedaris. It houses the world's largest collection of bottle ships of all shapes and sizes from around the world.

For fitness, we are happy to refer you to CNTR Gym. Located a stone's throw from the park in the centre of Enkhuizen. Cardio and strength training is available here daily from 7:00 in the morning to 22:00 in the evening. Especially for guests of the park, this club offers a discount.
