The Enkhuizen Clipper Race
From 9 to 11 October 2026, Enkhuizen will be buzzing with excitement for the Enkhuizen Clipper Race, one of the largest and most prestigious regattas for historic clippers and traditional sailing ships on the IJsselmeer. During this nautical spectacle, dozens of impressive vessels will compete for victory in races including the famous Three Cities Race. The combination of maritime history, impressive sailing skills and the atmospheric harbour of Enkhuizen makes this event a must-see for both water sports enthusiasts and day trippers.

During the autumn half-term, there’s a cosy, old-fashioned Dutch fairground atmosphere in ’t Zuiderzeedorp. Enkhuizen Lights Walk
On Friday 6 November 2026, the first edition of the Enkhuizen Light Walk will take place. During this atmospheric evening walk, participants will make their way through the historic town centre carrying lights, glow sticks and other illuminated accessories. With routes of 2.5, 5 and 10 kilometres, entertainment along the way and a cosy evening atmosphere, the Light Walk is a fun event for young and old alike.

Dickens Day in Medemblik
On Friday 11 December 2026, the historic centre of Medemblik will be transformed into a scene straight out of nineteenth-century England during Dickens Day. Amidst festively lit streets, Christmas stalls and music, over 150 participants will be walking around dressed as characters from Charles Dickens’ stories, including Scrooge and Oliver Twist. This unique winter event combines a cosy Christmas market with street theatre, singing and plenty of winter cheer.
